A very long time ago, a little girl named Gitl is excited about moving to America.  Her life in Russia is hard and her father decides to move the family to America for a better life.  Her brother goes first to earn money to bring them all over.  The story of Gitl's move is told as is the story of the building of the Statue of Liberty which is there to greet Gitl and her family when they arrive.
