The world will end not on January 1, 2000 but on July 27, 2000. At least that's what Marina's mother believes. Why would God choose Marina's birthday to end the world? It doesn't seem quite fair to Marina but she and her family belong to Reverend Beelson's Believers and that's what he believes. Reverend Beelson takes the congregation to the top of a mountain in western Massachusetts where exactly 144 Believers will be saved. In addition to Marina's church, there are also Believers from Boston who join the group. Jed is not quite a Believer but he needs to stay with his father. The story of two weeks on the mountain awaiting the end of the world is told by Marina and Jed in alternating chapters. Does the world end on July 27,2000? Read Armageddon Summer to find out!
