"Be careful what you wish, for it may come true". These are the words that young Otter hears as he drops coins into the water and wishes to go to America. Otter's father and uncle have sent letters to China and told of their adventures building the transcontinental railroad. They make it sound so exciting that Otter begs his mother to let him go and join them. Otter's mother refuses to allow him to go. But when Otter gets in trouble, his mother relents and sends him to America to join his father. When Otter finds his father, he is shocked to find that his father had exaggerated in his letters. The Chinese live in harsh conditions and work under intolerable conditions. Will Otter be able to survive this life?  Read DRAGON'S GATE to find out.
