Stanford is the only sixth- grader to make the A-Team and is planning on going to Basketball Camp this summer until he flunks English class. Intent on keeping his pride intact, he sneaks to summer school and does not tell his friends what he is doing. His mother further ruins his life by hiring the genius, grade skipping Millicent Min to tutor him in Math. Then Stanford meets Emily Ebers and, not wanting to appear dumb, tells her that he is tutoring Millicent. This little lie causes his life to fall apart, but Stanford must pick up the pieces.  Will he make the grade and stay on the team? Will he keep his friends and get the girl?  (Jean B. Bellavance for Pennsylvania Young Reader's Choice Awards, 2007-2008)
