Young
Wei dreams of singing when he grows up. Both his father and grandfather
have been singers in the Chinese opera troupe and Wei dreams of joining
them someday. But times are changing. There are fewer Chinese
going to the opera in the city. Many of the older ones are going
back to China and many of the younger ones are going to the new picture
shows. So Wei's father, Ba, won't teach Wei what he needs to know
to join the troupe. His grandfather secretly teaches him the songs
and the movements. Will Wei ever be able to help the failing opera
troupe? |
