Wood, Jane Roberts
A PLACE CALLED SWEET SHRUB
New York : Delacorte, 1990.
IL YA
ISBN 1574410792
This feels like a classic al la Little Women, with a rural southern flavor. Lucy enjoyed the freedom of teaching and being away from home. Her independence was shattered when her sister took over her boyfriend (they had to get married) and her father's death caused her mom to need her at home. She turned around the declining hardware business and tastes the feeling of successful ideas coming to fruit. Love interest, examining her place in the family, seeing her sister with new eyes and travel to a racist to the point of violence town all add to the interest this book maintains.
