Author Zora Neale Hurston was born way back in 1891. She and her family lived in a small town in Alabama. One of Zora's favorite things to do was to go to the general store and listen to tales of the south told by the old people who gathered there.  Zora had a zest for learning and found many opportunities to do so. And Zora also liked to write. A college professor encouraged her to start collecting those folk tales that she loved so much. She spent years traveling around the south and collecting those great stories. But this is her story.
