The year is 1941 and Germany has declared war on Russia.  The residents of St. Petersburg prepare for the invasion that is about to happen.  With the German army closing in, the bombs start falling on the city.  The city is cut off from the outside and the people face a future of starvation.  Young Georgi wants to join the Russian army and help fight the Germans but he is too young.  So he does what he can to help save his beautiful city.  His sister works at the Hermitage museum packing the artwork to save it from the invading army.  How can the city and the people survive the force of the German army?
