Yoko's
mother sends her off to school with her favorite foods packed in a willow
-covered cooler. Lunchtime arrives and a variety of delicacies appear
from the children's lunch boxes. Timothy enjoys his peanut butter and honey
sandwich while Hazel munches happily on her egg salad on pumpernickel.
Everyone seems content until one of her classmates notices the seaweed
in Yoko's lunch. It seems as if everyone has something impolite to
say about Yoko's favorite foods. But wise Mrs. Jenkins, Yoko's teacher,
turns things around when she plans an International Food Day for the class
and insists that all the children try "a bite of everything". Will
they eat Yoko's favorite food, sushi? Why not nibble along with Yoko
and her friends to find out! (Jeannie Bellavance bellavance@erols.com.
