Charles is convinced his move to Echo City will end in disaster. His new room in the old hotel his parents are renovating is much smaller than his spacious old home in the suburbs, and he’s noticed his toys seem to disappear overnight. Charles finds the culprit can access his room through a hole in his closet and decides to investigate, leading him to a large monster in the basement. Before he is devoured, Charles meets Margo Maloo, monster mediator, who settles the dispute between Charles and his new neighbor. Charles learns that Echo City is full of monsters, and Margo is solely responsible for keeping the peace. As more and more humans move to Echo City, can Margo keep tensions to a minimum? Will Charles convince Margo to let him stick around for help and not be eaten in the process? GARDEN STATE CHILDREN’S BOOK AWARDS, 2019
