This
is a quick read about a girl, Evan, who has to spend the summer with her
grandmother on an island in Maine. The grandmother is cool to Evan, not
her favorite grandchild. Evan, at 16, is forced to discover the island
people on her own. She's compelled one rainy afternoon to poke around the
attic of the island home looking for things to make her room homey. The
memories she stirs up in Gram from the articles she brings downstairs starts
Gram on the road to a better time, which balances nicely with the progress
she's making overcoming her fear of diving from the high rocks into the
pool of sheltered water near the beach. |
