Booktalk #1

Castle Hangnail has a vacancy. It is in need of a wicked witch. Molly applies for the position. She is twelve years old and very polite. Polite!! Wicked witches need to be evil, rude and demanding. Molly does not look like witch material, but Castle Hangnail needs a new master right now. A castle with no master will be decommissioned and the castle minions will have no home. Maybe, with the minions help, Molly will fit the bill.
(Booktalk by Great Stone Face Award Committee, 2017)

Booktalk #2

When Molly shows up on Castle Hangnail’s doorstep to fill the vacancy for a wicked witch, the castle’s minions are understandably dubious. After all, she is twelve years old, barely five feet tall, and quite polite. But the castle desperately needs a master or else the Board of Magic will decommission it, leaving all the minions without the home they love. So when Molly assures them she is quite wicked indeed (So wicked! REALLY wicked!) and begins completing the tasks required by the Board of Magic for approval, everyone feels hopeful. Unfortunately, it turns out that Molly has quite a few secrets, including the biggest one of all: that she isn’t who she says she is. (Sunshine State Young Readers Award Books 2017-2018)

Booktalk #3

Castle Hangnail needs a master of the house, specifically of the evil magic-type, or the Board of Magic will decommission it and all the minions will lose their home. Molly, a 12-year-old girl and way too polite and kind to truly be wicked, shows up for the job.  To prove she is capable, she sets about completing tasks that are required by the Board of Magic.  The minions find themselves charmed by Molly and hopeful all will work out, but Molly’s secret may threaten the castle’s future.  (Garden State Children's Book Awards, 2018)
