Mei-Mei loves to wake up every morning to an unknown adventure that awaits her. Grandfather and Mei-Mei have a wonderful relationship and they go through the every day morning routines but they always find an adventure through their busy town in China. I choose this book because I think it shows how similar lives are between American children and Chinese children; they both have morning routines such as eating breakfast and getting ready for the day. I think this book depicts a wonderful bond between a grandparent and a child. The book shares a little girl’s tradition in China that many American children can relate to, the morning! I like the book because it is set in modern day China instead of in the past, therefore children can experience what China is like now.  (Joni Stanley, jonistanley@yahoo.com, teacher)
