If you like
food, travel, and making new friends, you’ll find joy in
this French romance! Rosie Radeke, from a small town in
Ohio, arrives in Paris to attend the culinary school of
a celebrity chef. Henry, the other narrator, meets her
on the plane to Paris and is charmed. Henry makes many
missteps in pursuing Rosie, even as they bond over
French pastries. Both struggle to avoid getting expelled
from their teacher’s cooking lessons, which follow the
pattern of television competition shows, here with a
multicultural group of teenage cooks. Rosie’s cooking
sometimes fails, and Henry is under pressure from the
expectations of his Korean-American parents. Paris, of
course, is romantic and full of great food, a great
place to learn lessons about yourself and who you can
become. (Book Talk by Jodie Purcell, Bishop Blanchet
