Many people think that computers are
a fairly recent invention. Well, would you believe me if I
told you that the first "computer" was invented in the
early 1800s? It was invented but not built. A young
woman by the name of Ada Byron saw the potential in this
new machine and started creating "software" that would run
on the machine. Ada's mother was afraid that she was
too flighty as a child and pushed math on her. Little did
she know that it was the combination of Ada's imagination
and her math skills that lead to her becoming the first
computer programmer. At least on paper.
