Bea has been keeping The List of Things That Will Not Change ever since her parents divorced, when she was eight years old.  The first two items came directly from her parents:  (1) Mom loves you more than anything, always, and (2) Dad loves you more than anything, always.

And life has worked out pretty well--Mom and Dad get along, Bea has been able to fix up her own rooms at each of their places, and she even enjoys her visits to the counselor she started seeing when the divorce first happened.

But now Dad is getting remarried, which means Bea will be welcoming a step-sister that she’s never met into her family.
