Booktalk #2

Love, Stargirl, by Jerry Spinelli, is a  story that takes us through Stargirl's new life in Pennsylvania, and away from her old life in Arizona, including her love, Leo. She describes each day through a journal entry, as if writing to Leo. She tells about every day adventures she experiences, like Dootsie, her five year-old new best friend, Betty Lou, who is afraid to leave house, and Charlie, who can barely hear and sits by his wife's grave every day. Each day Stargirl asks Leo the same question she wonders, sending it to him telepathically, as if he'll one day get it and answer for her, but will her love last for him when she meets Perry, the mysterious boy with no home and a group of Honey Bees? Only time will tell… (Alexis D., student)
