Did you ever wonder what it would be like to be a soldier in the Civil War? Eight-year-old Charley and his dad are Civil War reenactors.  That means they have a special hobby, where they learn about Civil War life and battles, dress up like people of that time, and then join with other reenactors to stage recreations of Civil War battles.  Their hobby takes them to many important battle sites. In this book Charley takes you to the 135th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg.  Charley and his dad are in the Union regiment.  Although Charley is too young to fight, he takes us back in time as he shows and tells of the camp life, the soldiers and the battle.  You will feel like you are in the midst of battle as you read this book.  (Jean Bellavance bellavance@erols.com for Pennsylvania Young Reader's Choice Awards, 2003)
