Booktalk #1

Eleven year old Jonah Morrison is not having a very good year. His family has just moved to Connecticut from New York City after his dad split. Jonah is not the type of kid who makes friends easily. He isn't into sports, isn't academic and has recently become overweight. One day, he is teased and kids call him Jonah the whale. Jonah has a tendency to lie and this insult puts his imagination into overdrive. He tells the kids that he has his own television show called Jonah the Whale and that he has interviewed Michael Jordan! Now all the kids want to hear the Jordan interview. How will he get out of this mess? Find out how in JONAH THE WHALE.

Booktalk #2

Jonah Morrison is the new kid in the 6th grade at Bixley Elementary School.  He has a big imagination and an appetite to match.  On his second day of 6th grade at Bixley Elementary School, the kids in the class dub him Jonah, the Whale.  That's all the food Jonah's imagination needs.  The next thing we know, Jonah and his new, and only, friend Blister are producing a kids' talk show for a cable TV station and their first guest is Michael Jordan.  Yes, THE Michael Jordan!  How does Jonah make this happen?  You'll have to read JONAH, THE WHALE by Susan Shreve to find out.  (New Hampshire Great Stone Face Committee)
