Booktalk #1

In Rosewood, Pennsylvania where the apple trees blow in the breeze and the air smells like Chanel No.5 everything seems perfect. For Hannah, Aria, Spencer, and Emily that's not the story. In Seventh grade the unthinkable happened, the girls' Best friend Alli disappeared on the night of their traditional end of the year sleepover. Now the girls are juniors in High School, and Alli is still missing. The girls have gone their separate ways, but something seems to bring them closer. Horrifying notes about their past from a mysterious person called "A". What's weird is no one knew about their secrets except for Alli. So where is Alli? What happened to her? Who is sending these frightening notes? Find out in Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard. (Emma B., student)

Booktalk #2

Have you ever had a secret so scandalous that you only tell your only best friend? For Hanna, Aria, Spencer and Emily-Alison knows all of their juicy business. Until one day she vanishes and stirs up all of their lives and all of Rosewood Day Prep School. The remaining four friends disown each other and pretend like it never happened, until Alison starts sending them text messages and emails from the grave. 'Never trust a pretty girl with an ugly secret.'
This book is ideal for teenage girls probably around the ages of 14-18. They relate to this because I feel they go through some of the same experiences. Read Sara Sheperd's twisted fiction "Pretty Little Liars." (Katy, kromitti@bethanywv.edu, college student)

Booktalk #3

Pretty Little Liars is an engaging story of 5 friends bonded by the secrets they know about each other. Or are they? After one friend goes missing, the friendships between the other four fall apart. Each of the girls knows something or shared an especially big secret with the missing friend, Ali. When Ali starts contacting each of the other girls their worlds slowly start to unravel. Making out with teachers, coveting your sister’s boyfriends, crushing on the new girl in school and doing everything to be pretty this book will grab you and not let go.  (Book Talk Author: Candace Skoff, The Colorado Blue Spruce Award nominee 2012)

Booktalk #4

If you love a mystery, Pretty Little Liars written by Shepard Sara is the book you have to read. This book is about five girls named Hannah, Spencer, Aria, Allison and Emily living one happy perfect life but then everything goes wrong. Alison goes missing and the girls don't know where she is. A few weeks later they found her dead in a forest. These girls are trying to find ways to figure out how she died. They only have a limited time to find out what happened to her. What should they do?

This book is interesting because they have have received strange text messages from a person that goes by the name ‘’a’’ so that would be another mystery to solve. Also it is interesting by the mystery and the tense language used.

What i learned from this book is that to always be sure that you know who your real friends are. (Yasmin Quintanilla, yquintan5667@hwdsb.on.ca, k-12 student)
