Salassi, Otto R.
JIMMY D. SIDEWINDER AND ME
New York : Greenwillow, 1987.
ISBN 0679801359
Dumas Monk believes he looks like a dumas. He's an orphan who is the victim of circumstantial evidence. He meets up with some old timers who are on the swindling circuit. He learns to play pool, can out play most adults and ends up touring with a card shark who once had his picture taken with Wyatt Earp. When the card shark sets up a shoot out at the OK Coral Nighclub, Dumas is again the victim of circumstances and ends up having to write this book -- his defense to the judge who will be sentencing him to time in prison unless he can convince the judge he's not beyond hope. These letters are great reading.
