For fifteen-year-old Ari, life is mysterious. Girls are a mystery. His father is a mystery. Even guys his age are a mystery, instead of his friends. Ari is a pseudo only child and a loner, until he meets Dante at the pool. Dante is full of light and laughter, the antithesis of Ari’s darkness and anger. Dante is the boy who cries over a dead sparrow; Ari is the boy who wants to fight the kids who shot the sparrow. As their friendship grows, they realize that discovering the secrets of the universe might just look a lot like growing up. This beautifully written story should not be missed.
