Engineer Otis Barton and explorer Will Beebe were brought together by a desire to be the first to reach the deep, the unexplored depths of the ocean. When Otis heard Will was going to attempt a dive, he had to be a part of it. Otis knew Will’s diving tank would be dangerous, so he set out to plan a better one. After many attempts by Otis to meet Will, Otis finally had the chance to show Will his plans. They decided to dive into the deep, together...in the Bathysphere. This is the story of two determined men who faced uncertain perils to be the first to dive down, down into the deep to see what the mysteries the depths of the ocean looked like.
