Marshall
Rosenberg, the author of this book, was speaking at a Bethlehem mosque
to 170 Palestinian men who didn’t at first know he was an American.
Once they realized he was, they started a commotion, yelling “child killer!”
and “murderer!” Utilizing the techniques in this book, he listened
and communicated with them about their situation. At the end of their
discussion, the man who had called him a murderer invited Marshall to his
home for a Ramadan dinner. The simple skills he teaches are so universal
that they apply to individuals, couples, families, work places and large
institutions. (Davinna Artibey, Denver Center for International Studies,
