KEEP THE LIGHTS BURNING, ABBIE
Minneapolis, MN : Carolrhoda, 1985.
IL K-3, RL 2.0
ISBN 0876144547
Back in the year 1856, ships depended on lighthouses to keep them from crashing into rocks along the shore.  There were no computers or cell phones or any of the modern technology to help them.  Just lighthouses that were lit by oil lamps.  Lighthouse keepers needed to be sure the lights were on every night to help guide the ships.  This is the story of young Abbie Burgess who was the daughter of a lighthouse keeper in Maine.  When her father went to the mainland for supplies, a huge storm came up and prevented him from returning home for days.  During that time, brave little Abbie Burgess kept the lights burning for the ships.  This is her story.
Non fiction SUBJECTS:      Burgess, Abbie.
