After his mother dies, Zach has no choice but to go live with his father.  But there is a bit of a problem with that.  You see, Zach's father doesn't know about him at all.  He had  a brief affair many years ago and when a baby came into the picture, David and Zach's mother had agreed to put the baby up for adoption.  And that's just what David thought happened.  But now, seventeen years later, here is Zach on his doorstep with no where to go and no one to turn to but a father who never knew him.  His father takes him in and they try to become a family.  The story is told in alternating chapters from Zach's point of view and his new step sister's point of view.
