Some
grandmothers are nice and give candy and kisses. Others are strict and
think the parents are letting the kids get away with too much. Vicki has
a strict grandmother. Gram is so mean that Vicki’s Dad moved out of the
house to get away. Now Vicki’s mom must work at a new job that involves
a lot of traveling so she can make enough money to pay the bills. Dad moved
to California to get a new job and Gram is the baby-sitter while Mom travels
on business. But Gram nags Vicki about everything - her room, her manners,
everything! When Vicki can’t take it anymore she breaks her piggy bank
to pay for a bus trip to her Dad’s. Little sister wants to go too (or she’ll
TELL). So the two take the bus and arrive on the sidewalk outside Dad’s
new apartment. (Read some of page 26). (Odile Heisel.
