Annie
and her sister-in-law set off for the Kennedy farm in Maryland to meet
up with Annie's father. Annie is 14 years old and she doesn't quite understand
all the things her father is doing. One of Annie's jobs is to sit on the
porch and watch for anyone who may be suspicious of what her father is
up to. This book tells of Annie's life during the summer before her father
leads a daring raid on Harper's Ferry. Her father is the famous John Brown
and the story takes place in 1859. The author used journals from the real
Annie Brown to write this story. |
