Mallory is homeless after running away from her manipulative and cruel stepfather. She has nowhere to go and ends up at the library. Thinking this is a good spot to hide, she stays in the library after closing. Spencer, escaping the pressure in his house, climbs the outside of the library one night and gets caught and now has to do community service at the library. Their paths cross and Spencer, who is adopted and lives in a close and loving family, is drawn to her. Then one night, Mallory hears noises in the library and a body is discovered. She continues to hear noises even after the body has been removed, but she can’t tell anyone because no one knows she’s there at night. Is the library haunted? Or is there a murderer loose? Will Mallory find a place to live? Will she and Spencer become involved? Read this mystery to find out.  ( Prepared by: Susan Henley, Academic Magnet High School Susan_henley@charleston.k12.sc.us ) (South Carolina Book Awards, 2020-2021)
