The
Boys from St. Petri tells the story of a group of young men from Denmark
who form a resistance group to the occupation of their country by Hitler's
Nazi Germany. At first, it's only pranks they pull until they discover
a German luger, and they begin to take more chances on their endeavors.
They all come to believe that freedom is all that matters, and that it
is worth the risk, even their own lives. Intermingled in this exciting
plot is the story of one character realizing that he has fallen for his
brother's girlfriend. You won't be able to put this book down until you
read the exciting conclusion. Accelerated Reader level 4.5 is much too
low for the content of this story which might be difficult for some middle
schoolers to comprehend. (Penny Dawson, pdawson@lenoir.k12.nc.us) |
