Elizabeth Cady Stanton was one tenacious woman. Because of her gender, she couldn’t go to college or vote, but she was determined to change laws and attitudes--herculean tasks, especially at a time when women had few rights and were considered the property of their husbands or fathers. Rappaport depicts the long journey for women to win the right to vote and be heard. Many amazing women, such as Sojourner Truth and Susan B. Anthony, among others join the fight. After all, it took nearly 75 years and much hardship and pain. GARDEN STATE CHILDREN’S BOOK AWARDS, 2019 |
