His name is Equality 7-2521.  He lives in a society where individuality is illegal.  He is constantly reprimanded for being too smart and too tall.  Although he dreams of being a scholar, he is assigned the job of street sweeper.  He is unable to conform to the oppressive rules of his government and frequently breaks the law by hiding in a tunnel to write, enjoy solitude, and conduct science experiments.  He also risks getting caught by authorities when he speaks to and falls in love with a beautiful girl he calls “The Golden One”.   One day he sees a man being burned to death as punishment for saying the Unspeakable Word.  As the man was dying, he showed no fear or pain and locked eyes with Equality 7-2521, which Equality 7-2521 took as a sign that now he must continue the crusade.  (Davinna Artibey, Denver Center for International Studies, DPS, CO)
