DOG OF DISCOVERY : A NEWFOUNDLAND'S ADVENTURES WITH LEWIS AND CLARK
Honesdale, PA : Boyds Mills Press, 2002.

Two hundred years ago, a group of people set out to explore a part of the United States that was unknown to the settlers in the east.  The trip would eventually take them three years.  It might be hard to imagine a time when the west was unknown.  When there were no roads, or railroad or airplanes to take people west.  But Meriwether Lewis and William Clark set out to find out what was out there and to map the area so others could come after.  They were accompanied by their guide Sacagawea.  They also brought along a Newfoundland dog named Seaman.  They traveled more than 8000 miles over those years.  This is the story of Lewis and Clark and their dog.
