In
most time travel books the theme is one of exploration and not disturbing
the continuum. Not so in The Sterkarm Handshake. The purpose
of time travel is to bring in natural resources that have been depleted
in the present time. The time travelers go back to the 16th
century and present themselves as Elves to explain away their modern technology.
Their target is the Sterkarms, people who plunder the border between England
and Scotland. If the Sterkarms can be brought to heel, the FUP can
mine their resources and create a time travel resort. How hard can
it be to deal with such primitive people? The FUP greatly underestimates
the resourcefulness of the Sterkarms. Come join the team, either
that of the FUP or the Sterkarms, and take a look at life in the 16th century.
