Newt Newman has grown up in the shadow of his older brother, Chris, who is a football star at the high school. During the last seconds of the big game, Chris gets injured and is in a coma. Newt has always operated "under the radar" of his parent’s (and everyone else’s) attention and now with his brother in the hospital, he feels abandoned. Halloween is the day after the game and Newt and his two friends can’t decide on what costumes to wear. They decide to dress up as the hero that they admire the most. Newt puts together a costume from Chris’ old clothes and since no one can tell who Newt is supposed to be, he decides to call himself "Captain Nobody". With his new identity, he even manages to rescue several people from harm. But the one person Newt really wants to rescue is his brother. Will Newt be able to help his brother out of the coma? Read "Captain Nobody" by Dean Pitchford. (New Hampshire Great Stone Face nominee, 2011) |
