Life during the Renaissance was greatly influenced by the Catholic Church.  It was a time of great scientific discovery but at the same time, some scientists were branded as heretics because their theories disagreed with the Church's position.  During this time, scientists began understanding the concepts of motion and gravity.  But their theories were not embraced by the Church.  How did they ever continue with their research.  Concepts we take for granted today were not accepted easily.
