Zel lives with her mother in a isolated part of Switzerland. They only get to go into town twice a year. Zel loves going to town and seeing all the wonderful sights. Her mother is so protective that Zel rarely gets to experience life in town. This trip, mother leaves her at the blacksmith shop while she goes off shopping. Zel has a special way with animals and she uses her talent to calm a horse that the blacksmith was working on. The young man who owns the horse falls in love with Zel right then and there. Zel's mother will do anything to keep them apart and keep Zel all to herself. The story is told alternately by Zel, her mother and the young nobleman, which gives us a good idea of what each is thinking. Based on a famous fairy tale. Read Zel and find out which one!
