When
17-year old Joel Rogers decides to sneak aboard a friend's plane carrying
supplies to the Alaskan frontier, he was only trying to avoid another confrontation
with his father. He only wants to get away for a day. But what happens
when they arrive in Alaska will change Joel's life forever. Instead
of getting away for a day, he spends an entire winter in the Alaskan wilderness.
Over the next few months, he will witness the murder of his friend, narrowly
miss being killed himself more than once, by both the natural elements
and the criminal elements that have taken up residence in this remote place.
Mike Donovan, one of those criminals, saves Joel's life and it is their
friendship that helps Joel begin to discover what he is really made of.
Death
Walk by Walt Morey is a story of survival. It is the story of a boy
entering the Alaskan wilderness to run away from his problems and a man
who walks out having survived them. (Virginia Wright, wrightvi@oplin.lib.oh.us) |
