 Probably the best known novel by this Australian author, Raw tells the story of hard boy Brett Dalton, who is sentenced to a 3-month stay on "The Farm" a detention centre near Mungindi in north-western NSW, after he commits a robbery. Here he meets up with several boys in the care of Sam and Mary, who are trying to give the boys a chance to change their lives. The story is
