Robert Wills lives in Appalachia. His parents are at opposite ends of life styles. One set of grandparents runs a huge farm and the store in town. The other set are their sharecroppers . Robert is trying to decipher who among his family and friends are the sorry and who are not. His grandpa Wells' definition doesn't fit the people he knows and grandpa Smith doesn't seem to measure with that ruler. Robert chronicles the part of his education that affirms Grampa Smith's mountain heritage. Robert is a bright and proud Appalacian.
