Perfectly Martha written and illustrated by Susan Meddaugh is a wonderful addition to the Martha Speaks series, once again starring Martha, the talking dog. How can a dog speak you ask? She eats alphabet soup of course, which goes right to her brain instead of her stomach enabling her to talk. In the story Perfectly Martha, half of the owners in her neighborhood are enrolling their dogs in the Perfect Pup Institute. Somehow in one day using a three step training program, the dogs are transformed into obedient perfect pups. Martha realizes that there is something strange about these Perfect Pup graduates. Can Martha discover what is really going on at the perfect Pup Institute? Read to find out if the clever and outspoken Martha can solve this case.  (Jean B. Bellavance for Pennsylvania Young Reader's Choice Awards, 2005-2006)
