SHE DIED TOO YOUNG
New York : Bantam, 1994.

Fifteen-year-old Chelsea James is awaiting the news of a donor.  Her poor old heart is just plain old tired and needs replacing. She and her mother have moved in with Katie and her parents.  They have also been through the same experience.  Chelsea is required to attend group-counseling sessions to help prepare her mentally as she waits for the "beep."  She finds herself among the many people who are in need of one or more organs.  During one of her sessions, she meets Jillian.

Jillian is sixteen and needs a heart and two lungs.  She and Chelsea soon become best friends and the waiting process begins.  Tragedy strikes and Chelsea takes a turn for the worst.  When a possible donor becomes available, Jillian receives her beep.  Who will receive the organs that both girls so desperately need?  Will the organs be used to save the one life that is most in need, or will they be used to save several lives, including Chelsea's?  How will either girl handle the guilt of sacrificing one life for the other?  Find out in She Died Too Young, one of the many books in the One Last Wish series by Lurlene McDaniel.  Teresa Reid (teereid97@mindspring.com)
