Originally published in 1978, Hold Fast has been republished and is available for a new generation.  Fourteen-year-old Michael has lived in a small town in Newfoundland all his life.  When his parents are killed in a car accident, Michael is shipped off to live with relatives in the city.  Things don't go well for Michael with his adjustment to city life.  The kids at school make fun of the way he talks and his country ways.  Michael decides that the only thing he can do is run away.  Is this really the best alternative?
