During
a violent
snow-storm an
Irish
wolfhound
named Teddy
rescues 2
young
children,
Flora and
Nickel, from
their car. The
children are
not surprised
to discover
that the dog
can speak
human words.
Patricia
MacLachlan has
already
explained this
to us in the
epigraph:
"Dogs speak
words, but
only poets and
children
hear." Teddy's
owner Sylvan,
a poet, has
recently
passed away
and the dog is
living alone
in his cottage
in the woods.
The children
and the dog
have found
each other at
the perfect
time. A simply
magical and
gentle story
about love,
family and
grief. (Vermont
