When
Dan learns that Uncle Joe is coming to live with them, he is worried. The
State home is closing and they need a place for Uncle Joe to stay until
a new home can be found. His friend Ben tells him that he saw a television
show about people with Down's Syndrome and that they are all mentally retarded
and look funny. Dan's sister Beth refuses to tell her friends about he
uncle and decides that she won't invite anyone over ever again. When Uncle
Joe arrives, he tries to be friendly with the family. Dan and Beth don't
want to have anything to do with him. But their little sister Amy spends
time with Uncle Joe and comes to love him. In time, Dan and Beth find that
they love him as well. Even their friends come to like Uncle Joe. Then
the State informs the family that they have found a new home for Joe and
a job in a sheltered workshop. The family is sad to see Uncle Joe leave.
Will they find a way to get Uncle Joe to stay? Find out if they are successful
