My name is Francesca. I am 15 years old, 5 feet 4 inches tall, 98 pounds, and a dancer.  I felt fat, and in my mind I thought, “thinner is better.”  Even my dance teacher told me I had extra fat in some places, and to get rid of it would increase my chances to getting into top dance schools.  I then decided to lose a couple of pounds, and with the thought, “thinner is better” in mind, my weight kept dropping and I felt in control.  After losing a lot of pounds, and losing even more, my parents got worried about me.  Everything they threatened me with didn’t work.  They told me they would not let me continue with dance. Dance was my life, and showing them I didn’t care got them even more worried.  My mom immediately called the psychiatrist and when that didn’t work, I had to see a doctor.  Nothing helped me with my eating disorder.  They went to extreme measures to help me.  Read the book, The Best Little Girl in the World, written by Steven Levenkron, to find out what happens to me.  (Callie B., 8th grade student, Rundlett Middle School)
