Do you like getting gifts?  They are usually something nice that you want.  But in this book, the gifts may not be something you would want.  There are many kinds of gifts that can be used as a defense against neighboring domains.  Orrec has the gift of Unmaking.  This is as bad as it sounds.  And Orrec is forced to wear a blindfold so that he doesn't use his gift on friends and family.  But when he does inadvertently use his gift, he is horrified.  To keep his son from doing more damage, Orrec's father seals his eyes.  Is Orrec destined to be blind the rest of his life?  Or can someone find a way to keep the gifts from causing harm?
