We all have moments when we fantasize about living someone else’s life. But what does it take to actually assume another person’s identity? Ella Lawton is driving her twin sister Maddy home from a party in the middle of the night when she accidentally crashes the car, killing Maddy. When Ella first wakes up in the hospital, she is confused about who she is and thinks she is Maddy. She soon realizes her true identity, but, weighed down by grief and guilt, she decides to pretend to be Maddy. How will she make this work? Is Maddy’s best friend Jenna really a friend? Just how supportive is Maddy’s boyfriend Alex? Did their parents really love Maddy more than her? When Ella discovers a devastating, hidden truth about Maddy, she must decide whether or not assuming Maddy’s identity was the best choice for those she cares about.
