Set
in the northern wilderness of Ontario, the Morrison family enjoys a family-centered
rural life. Seven-year-old Kate spends endless hours lying in the sand
at the lake with her adored older brother Matt studying the lake and the
life within it. An idyllic life in an idyllic setting. Without warning,
an accident claims the lives of both of Kate's parents. Matt and Luke struggle
nobly to provide for the family in an effort to keep them together and
to care for Kate's baby sister, Bo. Fate seems to be against them; however,
and an unforeseen force tears the family apart. Kate moves on to become
a successful zoologist and college professor. But the rift in her family
and the damaged relationships with her siblings make her unable to maintain
a successful relationship. The powerful forces of nature and family combine
to drive Kate home again to confront her past and those she once held dear.
