ELIZABETH I, RED ROSE OF THE HOUSE OF TUDOR
(THE ROYAL DIARIES)
New York : Scholastic, 1999
IL 5-8
I am the forgotten Princess.  I write this diary so that I can be perfectly honest with someone.  It is not a good idea to be too honest around the royal court.  My father is King Henry VIII and the year is 1544.  My father is now married to his 6th wife.  I have an older sister, Mary.  She is not quite right in the head and torments me at times.  My brother is younger but it is he who is destined to rule England one day.  Father used to want me to rule but now he doesn't even acknowledge me at times.  As it stand, I will never rule England.  Edward is first in line, Mary is next and then me.  I feel that I would be a good queen but will never get the chance.  This diary will record my thoughts and my adventures as the forgotten Princess.
